Discontinuation of Water Service Policy
The Montecito Water District's Discontinuation of Water Service Policy, in conformance with SB 998 and the California Water Shutoff Protection Act, is designed to ensure that our practices are fair, transparent, and considerate of the needs of our customers, particularly those facing financial hardships. Our commitment is to maintain open communication and provide ample notice and options to those at risk of service discontinuation.

Under Section 116918 of the Health and Safety Code the District is required to report the number of annual discontinuations of residential service for inability to pay on the system’s website and to the board:
In 2023, that number was nine.
